Dog Food - Beef Turkey Potato Casserole

Our dogs LOVE homemade food....they sit at the stove waiting to eat it !!

I started including potatoes since they are a good source of potassium.

Dogs can eat Pinto Beans, Black Beans, Kidney Beans, Lentils and Garbanzo Beans.

Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1 lb ground turkey (or chicken)
1 can chicken or beef broth
========
1 cup uncooked rice
1 cup dry lentils  (I use Goya Lentils )
========
1 pkg frozen spinach, thawed
2 cups sliced raw potatoes (white or sweet)
1/2 cup parm cheese
1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1 Tbsp ground turmeric
1 Tbsp ground ginger
water

Directions:
In a dutch oven or large pot, brown the ground meat on the stove over medium heat.

Next add the quinoa and lentils - make sure they are cooked.

Finally add in the rest of the ingredients and cook until spinach and potatoes are done.

Keep adding water as needed.

No Oil (Oil Free) Pasta or Pizza Sauce (DF, GF)

I decided to try making pasta and pizza sauce that had no oil or sugar and could be used for the Daniel Fast.

Both my husband and I LOVE this sauce and we use it for both pasta and pizza.  The only difference is that I do not include the red pepper when making the sauce to use on pasta.

I used to have to add my own spices to store bought pasta sauce to taste like I wanted it to taste.  With this sauce, we do not need to add anything to make it suitable to our taste.

Ingredients:
4 - 16 oz cans of tomato sauce
2 and 1/2 Tbsp dried oregano
1/4 cup dried basil
2 and 1/2 Tbsp onion powder
2 and 1/2 Tbsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
3 Tbsp minced jar garlic
4 medjool dates
1/4 tsp crushed red pepper (I only use when making it for pizza)
1 tsp ground fennel (optional)

Directions:
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.

Chickpea Flour Scrambled "Eggs" (DF, GF)

I decided to try another way of making "scrambled eggs" besides using tofu.

Both my husband and I thought this was really good.  I even had some leftover for the next morning and it still tasted fine.

Ingredients:
1 cup chickpea flour
1/4 cup Nutritional Yeast Flakes  (I use Now Foods)
2 Tbsp  Ground Flaxseed
 1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp black salt
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dry mustard
1 tsp turmeric
1/2 tsp  SMOKED PAPRIKA
========
1 and 1/4 cup unsweetened almond milk

Directions:
Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl until well combined.  Then add the almond milk and stir until well combined.

Pour the chickpea flour mixture into a non-stick pan over medium heat.   Cook for about 2 minutes until the edges begin to get firm.  Then start to stir, chop and "flip" the mixture until desired "scrambled egg" consistency.  I cooked it for about 4 to 5 minutes to reach the consistency I prefer .

Baked Oatmeal with Apples - Take 3 (DF, GF)

This is REALLY good. When I warmed it up the next day I did add a little additional milk and added a little coconut on top.  My husband doesn't like coconut or I would have sprinkled 1 cup of coconut on top before baking.

I also added spinach to get some extra greens in for the day !  Neither of us tasted the flavor of the spinach in the oatmeal.
This is a very filling breakfast !!!  It will keep you from being hungry for hours !!!!

My husband likes this one better than the "take 2" baked oatmeal.  This is a little more "crunchy".   He also adds maple syrup to his bowl of oatmeal.

This recipe is adapted from this recipe

Ingredients:
2 and 1/2 cups unsweetened applesauce
4 cups - mixture of apple chunks, sliced bananas, and chopped dates (4 cups total)
3/4 cup raisins
3 Tbsp Ground Flaxseed
2 Tbsp ground cinnamon
1/2 Tbsp vanilla extract
1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
1/2 tsp salt (optional)
10 oz package frozen spinach (thawed - optional)
========
1 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 cup Unsweetened Shredded Coconut  (optional)

Directions:
Mix all ingredients (except almond milk and coconut if using) in a large bowl.  Stir until well combined.

Pour into a 9" x 13" baking dish.

Pour unsweetened almond milk over the top.

If using, sprinkle the coconut on top of the oats.

Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes.

Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Old-Fashioned Overnight Oats - Take 2 (DF, GF)

This is the recipe I make for myself all the time.  I make 10 servings at a time - I use empty glass peanut butter jars.  These keep in the fridge just fine for the 10 days !

I modified my recipe for  Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Old-Fashioned Overnight Oats (DF, GF) to come up with this recipe.

Ingredients:
1/8 tsp salt
1 Tbsp Unsweetened Shredded Coconut  (I use Bob's Red Mill)
1/3 cup Quaker old fashioned oats (heaping 1/3 cup)
1/2 to 3/4 cup unsweetened almond milk
1 tsp Chia Seeds (I use Bob's Red Mill)
1 tsp Ground Flaxseed (I use Bob's Red Mill)
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/8 cup raisins
1/2 tsp spirulina (optional)
2 large dates, chopped (or 4 small dates, chopped)
1 ripe banana, mashed
1/4 cup peanut butter (no sugar)

Directions:
Put all the ingredients into a jar with tight fitting lid and shake or stir until well combined.  I use an "old" 16-oz glass peanut butter jar.  Then refrigerate overnight or for a few nights.

Sometimes I do add extra milk in the morning, before warming up if the oatmeal has soaked up all the milk.

Warm up in the microwave for about 90 or 120 seconds or eat cold.
