Dried Spicy Chickpeas (DF, GF)

These are REALLY good...they are on the spicy side ...eliminate the cayenne pepper if you do not want them spicy.

My taste testers thought these were REALLY good.  These are a GREAT and nutritional snack.  Get the benefit of beans while snacking on something delicious !!!!

1 can Chickpeas, drained and rinsed
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp paprika
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp cumin
1/4 tsp cardamom
1/4 tsp coriander
1/8 tsp turmeric
1/8 tsp cinnamon
1/8 tsp garlic powder
1/8 tsp curry powder

Drain and rinse the chickpeas.  Leave them a little wet so the spices will cling to the water on the chickpeas.

Toss all ingredients in a bowl or plastic bag.

Spread the chickpeas in a single layer on dehydrator trays and dry at 150 degrees.  Dry until the chickpeas are dry and crunchy (about 6 to 8 hours).

and he keeps a close watch on everything I do.

  1. I haven't tried chickpeas in the dehydrator. I have only ever done oven ones. Great snack for school for little people too :-)

    1. Hey Sandy !!! A friend did the same recipe in the oven and we both liked the dehydrator ones better !!! You'll have to try them in the dehydrator and see what you think !!! - Denise

  2. i just bought a dehydrator and i did kind of a similar recipe but my chickpeas get too Hard to eat, not so crispy i added some oil, do you think thats the problem?

    1. Hi,
I do not add oil to mine. I have noticed the brand of chickpeas makes a difference. I have used some brands that do dry hard and others that do not. Also, check on them sooner - they still might be fine if you do not let them dry as long.

    2. Perfect I Will try that. Thanks a lot! :)

    3. SURE !!! You are welcome !!! I hope you have good luck with them !!!
